Negative –
I would call them assistant captains – since they are well qualified –
The only difference, is somewhat less years of experience –
They can take over, if the captain becomes incapacitated –
When I was flying, I always invited the first officers to occupy the LH seat –
And be the pilot flying and share the flight time equally –
Assume “captaincy” of the flight – to improve their qualifications to be command pilot –
Being qualified is NOT because you have a CPL or ATPL, 3,000 hours, and jet type ratings –
Being qualified is having a lot of practice –
You do no get qualified as pilot, by sitting on your hands
